After Hours and After Show
At the Small Press Summit held on Sunday morning,
blogging “rivals” Heidi MacDonald (the Beat)
and Whitney Matheson (Pop Candy) duked it out after their panel on
the ins and outs of getting graphic novels reviewed.
At the post-Ignatz Awards reception,
Batton toasted Karen Flage and Steve Conley
for a job well done as co-chars of this year’s SPX.
Plenty of reason to party for SPX special guest
Megan Kelso (The Squirrel Mother)
and Ignatz Award winner for Best Graphic Novel
Alex Robinson (Tricked).
It’s always fun to chat with cartoonist and webcomicker
Leland Purvis (Vulcan & Vishnu) and busker Elizabeth Genco.
Time to hit the road: Before Jackie and Batton bade a fond farewell
to Bethesda and headed to Brooklyn as backseat guests of
Megan Parker and Bosch Fawstin, they dropped in for the
aftermath party at Dave and Buster's. Then it was time for parking lot
good-byes with Steve Conley and his wife, Britt.
Everyone was impressed with Megan's blackberry; Batton is holding this
year's SPX poster (art by Tony Millionaire).
