Emerald City Comicon Seattle, April 1-2, 2006
Emerald City had a packed exhibit hall on Saturday!
Batton got help at the Exhibit A booth from Eunice Verstegen and Rob Salkowitz, who served as gracious hosts for Batton and assistant Trevor Nielson all weekend.
The great Michael T. Gilbert (of Mr. Monster fame) joined Batton for a bit of skullduggery.
Michael T.'s talented wife Janet (Egmont Disney writer and manga translator) stopped by to mug with Batton!
Mark May 11 on your calendars - that's when Simpsons Comics writer Ian Boothby and Y: The Last Man artist Pia Guerra tie the knot. Here they are flanked by Batton and cartoonist James Lloyd.
Neko Press's
Billy Martinez got a chance to say hi to the absent Jackie Estrada,
whose phone call to Batton constituted her sole presence at the show.
The always inventive
Garret Izumi
stopped by the booth to say hello.
Batton was delighted to see the fabulously creative Paul Guinan at the show. Check out his Eisner Award-nominated (Best Painter/Multimedia Artist) Heartbreakers Meet Boilerplate at www.bigredhair.com.
Batton enjoyed the chance to chat with
Last Kiss
genius John Lustig.
Batton caught up with the fabulous Miriam Libicki and her
self-published Jobnik! at the
Real Gone Girl booth.
Some of the "big names" at the show included award-winning writer Kurt Busiek and Dark Horse editor Diana Schutz.
Eric Reynolds peeked in on the Exhibit A booth from the adjoining Fantagraphics digs.
Commander Jason Crater (aka Keith Curtis) is ready
for action...as displayed in every issue of Crater on the Moon.
The staff of Emerald City, including cool "lackey" Ildi Balogh, showed great hospitality to fans and exhibitors alike.
The Slave Labor booth saw its share of smartly dressed fans.
