Comic-Con International 2002!
Batton was shocked to hear Tony Millionaire announce that the winner of the Eisner Award for Best Humor Series had gone to Radioactive Man. But he didn’t let the win go to his head.

(At right) Jackie congratulated Batton on his win.
Batton enjoyed participating in the Blake Bell-moderated panel on Steve Ditko (even though some people mistook Batton for Todd McFarlane). Blake (left, holding a $7,500 Ditko
original) runs an information-filled Steve Ditko website.

Blake is also the author of the upcoming book I Have to Live with This Guy, which features an extensive interview with Jackie, along with interviews with the wives or significant others of such creators as Will Eisner, Dan DeCarlo, Howard Cruse, Alan Moore, Dave Cooper, Joe Kubert, and many more.
Jackie and Batton were privileged to have dinner with legendary cartoonist Nick Cardy at the popular Panda Inn restaurant in Horton Plaza. Joining them were David Seidman, Arlen Schumer, Nancy Trempe, Trevor Nielsen, Minnie Hatfield, and Tina Anderson.
Everyone’s a critic: A mummy critiques issue 31.

The Marriott’s bar turned out to be a popular spot for winding down. Here’s Jackie with Arlen Schumer, Jon and Andy Cooke (from the Eisner Award-winning Comic Book Artist), and Danish journalist Henrik Andreasen.
Batton had the opportunity to schmooze a bit with:
Bob Oksner, legendary DC artist on such titles as Bob Hope Comics, Jerry Lewis Comics, Binky, Dobie Gillis, Sgt. Bilko, Angel and the Ape, etc.)
Denis Kitchen, publisher and head of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
Pam Noles, writer for the LA Times and Comic-Con guest relations staff member.
(Top) DC Group Editor Andy Helfer, showing off the latest in Palm technology.

(Bottom) Heidi "Ace" MacDonald, intrepid reporter for comicon.com’s new Pulse news center.

(Left) Jimmy Palmiotti, inker of Garth Ennis’s over-the-top Image title Pro, and all-around nice guy—just two guys from Brooklyn hanging out!
