Comic-Con devoted a special Spotlight program to Batton on Thursday.
During his Spotlight Batton was given Comic-Con’s prestigious Inkpot Award.
Batton was interviewed by his Bongo boss and longtime friend Bill Morrison. Yes . . . good times . . . good times . . .
As Eisner Awards administrator, Jackie served as MC for the evening’s festivities on Friday. In the foreground we see CBLDF executive director Charles Brownstein and writer Neil Gaiman (winner of two Eisners over the evening) contemplating the chips and guacamole.
Presenters for the evening included Comic-Con special guests Walt and Louise Simonson
Gemstone editor John Clark accepted the award for Best Title for a Younger Audience, which went to Walt Disney Presents Uncle Scrooge.
The finale for the awards was an impromptu Spanish ballad duet (from Disney’s Three Caballeros) by Joe Ferrara and Sergio Aragones.
Jackie never misses an opportunity to pose with the awards’ namesake, Will Eisner. Jerry Robinson was on hand to accept his Will Eisner Hall of Fame award.
