Jeff and Alanna
Jeff Byrd (Randall Kirby) and Alanna Wolff (Minnie Hatfield) were on the prowl for clients! The Alanna Wolff who strikes fear in the heart of opposing attorneys. Another potential client: Bob Burden’s Flaming Carrot.
While Batton was on a panel ("The New Mainstream," a very lively discussion!), actor and kids’ show host Chuck McCann stopped by the Exhibit A booth. "My character and my childhood idol together in one photo—I can’t believe it!" Batton said when Jackie showed him the evidence of the visit.
Alanna Wolff offered her services to a skeptical Howard Chaykin, as Trevor Nielson and Batton pretended not to notice.
Alanna met an attorney who bore an uncanny resemblance to Ms. Wolff! Dr. Robyn Hill vamped it up on Saturday. On Sunday she (along with Mimi Cruz and Mike Carlin) presented their popular "Secret Origin of Good Readers" program for teachers and librarians.
Alanna Wolff and Trevor Nielson stopped by the Troma booth to visit with the Toxic Avenger and his creator, Lloyd Kaufman. Where’s Sgt. Kabukiman when you need him?
Wolff & Byrd reminisced with cartoonist Michael T. Gilbert about their appearance in his "Mr. Monster" series (their first color appearance in comics as well!)
Spider Baby! Wolff & Byrd offered their business card to the great Sid Haig. Sid is currently on view in Kill Bill, vol. 2.
Business as un-usual: While Byrd lines up a ghoulish client, Wolff chats up a furry pirate.
May the law be with you! Forget that Star Wars packaging—wouldn’t you like to see Wolff & Byrd action figures?
A client has Jeff in the palm of his hand . . . Alanna has to hand it to Jeff . . . good thing that guy had his lawyer at hand . . . give Jeff Byrd a big hand . . . or hey, just insert your "hand" pun here!
Anticipating the day when Supernatural Law has a manga edition, Alanna Wolff makes sure that Picachu gets her card.
Around the Con
Billy D. Williams was one of the many celebs who could be found signing memorabilia and photos throughout the Exhibit Hall and in the Autograph Area.
We hear these gals won one of the big awards at the Masquerade for their costumes. We’re not surprised! One of the dozen or so sf authors brought to the Comic-Con by Random House/Del Rey was China Mieville, best known for his award- winning novel Perdido Street Station (not to be read if you are depressed, says Jackie).
You never know who you’ll run into on the escalators! Why settle for just a robot—when you can have a robot caveman!
Jackie caught up with Comic-Con special guests Walt Simonson and John Totleben to say hello.
