The Exhibit Hall
Among the celebrities who could be found scattered throughout the Exhibit Hall were:
Forrest J. Ackerman, who appeared at the very first Comic-Con in 1970.
This year Comic-Con took over nearly all the San Diego Convention Center, including the Lobby that ran from Halls A to Hall H.
Brian Bendis above, who won two Eisner Awards this year.

Joss Whedon, at left, popular creator of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.

Frank Miller, below, signing at the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund booth.
One of the great things about Comic-Con is the chance meetings between pros and celebrities. Jackie was delighted to capture Will Eisner chatting with Pultizer Prize–winning author Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay).
The only program Jackie had a chance to attend was the historic panel featuring longtime friends Forry Ackerman, Ray Bradbury, and Julius Schwartz, interviewed by Mark Evanier. They’ve all known each other since the first World Science Fiction Convention in New York City in 1939.

At right, Jackie stopped by the Gentle Giant Studios booth to thank Karl Meyer and his crew for designing and producing this year’s brand-new Eisner Awards.
At left, one of the buzz books of Comic-Con was Craig Thompson’s giant graphic novel Blankets from Top Shelf. Craig will be a special guest at the 2004 Comic-Con—as will Batton Lash!

Above, JLA/Avengers artist George Pérez sported his new Mr. Clean look.
